If you’re anything like me your free time for news consumption is limited. That limitation is that much more frustrating if you’re someone that likes to think critically and read coverage of news stories from different angles to get the full picture; there just aren’t enough hours in the day.
Maybe you’re someone who hasn’t started reading the news yet because there’s so much to get through.
No matter what your story, I want to share with you The Week. I recently became a subscriber under the advisement of a personal trainer and friend, Chris Joyce. Chris recommended the magazine so enthusiastically that I didn’t even read up on it; I just subscribed. My experience reading The Week has been so awesome and interesting that I’ve started recommending it to all my friends and every test prep student I have. It’s. Just. That. Good.
Here’s the scoop in a nutshell. The Week highlights all the past week’s news stories and the ways in which those events were covered from the perspectives of all the major printed news sources. It also includes a few longer-form articles if they’re really exceptional.
Here are the big reasons you’ve got to get this magazine:
- You’re getting all the week’s real news without having to subject yourself to hours of coverage on Lindsay Lohan or air-time filling blabber.
- You’re encouraged to develop your critical thinking skills because all the major player’s opinions are juxtaposed; you’re getting WSJ, The Atlantic, NY Times, and everyone else on the same page. This empowers readers to develop and solidify their own perspectives.
- It’s fast–you don’t have to devote hours and hours to slog through this thing. It’s 40 pages of awesome.
